Andrea Salerno Jácome, photographer
With a solid background in photography and social sciences, Andrea stands out as a photography and visual culture professional, with a special focus on food heritage issues.
With roots in Venezuela, Colombia, and Italy, her analog and digital work developed in Spain and the United Arab Emirates has also been enriched by formative periods in Argentina, Brazil, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Uruguay.
Throughout her career, she has worked as a freelance photographer, studio manager, and speaker on several continents. She has also spoken internationally on topics such as food culture and immigration in Latin America and the Middle East.
In addition, her academic experience includes teaching at renowned photography and audiovisual schools in Argentina and Uruguay, several programs of the Municipality of Rosario, Argentina, and Gulf Photo Plus, Dubai. She has also been a cultural manager at the Colombian Embassy in Abu Dhabi and has participated as a jury in important photography and film competitions, such as Food Focus Dubai and the Latin American Film Festival, in Rosario, Argentina.
Her exhibitions include participation in the Lumínic Festival in Barcelona, her solo show “The Path of the Heart (Landscapes of a food culture)” at the Cultural Center Cine Lumière in Rosario, Argentina; the exhibition of her artist book “Rip Current” at Alserkal Avenue, Dubai and her project “Migratory Birds”, exhibited at Sumac Space, Dubai. In addition, she has collaborated with The Wall Street Journal, the Ministry of Tourism of Saudi Arabia, The Guardian UK, and other international platforms, and has been shortlisted by Canon Middle East in their “Women Who Empower” program.
She is a full member of Diversify Photo (New York, USA) and a mentor in the BIPOC Photo Mentorship Program (Oakville, Canada).
Since July 2024, Andrea has been based between Dubai, UAE and Reus, Catalonia, Spain, and is available for projects around the world, mainly in Europe, South Asia, and the Middle East.
Bio
Peter Slate (b. 1985, Philadelphia, USA) received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography from York University, Toronto, Canada in 2006 and his MFA from Yale University, New Haven, USA in 2012.
Slate makes photographic work using film. His works are an investigation into representations of concrete situations, depictions and ideas that can only be realized in photography.
